Mold the clay, carving stone, delving into matter to reveal reality… Isn’t creation, in itself, mystical?

No matter the discourse, the purpose, what occurs between the creator and their work is shrouded in secrecy—a closely guarded secret of intimate experience, of an evanescent awakening.

Many artists speak of this indescribable experience, perceptible only at the very moment of creation. Mystical knowledge—Nature, Being, God, notions of presence or absence, a transcendental reality—belongs to the creator. However, the viewer of their work, if naturally endowed with empathy, emotion, and their own secrets, can be initiated into the mystery. It is at this moment that intimate union becomes collective, at this moment that beliefs are shared.

In response to Belgium’s invitation during the De Mains de Maîtres 2021 biennale, and following the selection of artists made jointly by Jean-Marc Dimanche (general curator of the biennale) and BeCraft, the association invites Luxembourgish creators to engage in dialogue with its member artists.

Together, deliberately or incidentally, they guide us into the mystery of creation, ultimately—why not?—demystifying it.
