On AiR shows works from the Artist in Residence collection in Idar-Oberstein from 2006 to 2023.
The Department of Gemstones and Jewellery at Trier University of Applied Sciences, together with the Jakob Bengel Foundation and supported by the city of Idar-Oberstein, launched their Artist in Residence Programme in May 2006. Jewellery artists can use the workshops of the Department of Gemstones and Jewellery and the Jakob Bengel Industrial Monument for between 1-3 months. During this time, they can live cost-free in one of Jakob Bengel’s former workers’ residences and receive a small stipend. In return, they give lectures to students, hold workshops and leave a piece of work created in Idar-Oberstein to the Jakob Bengel Foundation, as part of the Artist in Residence Collection. The works created during their stay reflect the atmosphere of the heritage-protected jewellery manufactory and the omnipresent glittering world of gemstones in Idar-Oberstein.
